Carlos Melo Alves discusses the case of the family-owned company Spinumviva

Carlos Melo Alves was invited to the studio of RTP3’s 360º programme to comment on the investigation into the case of the family business Spinumviva, which is linked to the Prime Minister.

According to Carlos Melo Alves, the Spinumviva case could already have been concluded and properly clarified if a formal criminal investigation had been opened. He argues that the Attorney General’s decision was not the correct one, as a preliminary inquiry was launched instead of proceeding directly to a criminal investigation. Alves further explains that the process was flawed from the outset, particularly because it should have remained confidential, as required by law.

The 360º programme on RTP3 was hosted by journalist Alexandre Brito and featured, alongside lawyer Carlos Melo Alves, fellow lawyer Manuel Magalhães e Silva and RTP commentator and Público newspaper director David Pontes.
