False declaration allows legal business: sale without consent
A luxury villa in Herdade da Aroeira in Almada was sold without the owners' consent. Someone posed as the real owners and managed to forge a power of attorney with false documents. The owners are Chinese and are now at risk of losing their residence permits.
The offences of fraud, document forgery, money laundering and criminal association may be involved. The Public Prosecutor's Office and the Judicial Police (PJ) are already investigating.
It's not the only case; just last month the PJ dismantled a criminal network that was doing the same thing in the south of the country.
In an interview with "A Prova dos Factos", an investigative programme on RTP coordinated by Rita Marrafa de Carvalho and presented by Mariana Flor, partner Jorge Chang, the lawyer for the owners of the villa at Herdade da Aroeira, explains the details of this case and the legal steps that have been taken.
