In recent years, artificial intelligence, IoT sensors, real-time data and state-of-the-art information assessment software have enabled insurers to improve their performance at all stages of the value chain, assess potential risks more effectively and prevent fraud.
Cláudia Leonardo, a partner at Melo Alves, shared her opinion on the impact of innovation and technology on this sector and on consumers with the Jornal Económico on the subject of a ‘special report’ in the insurance sector.
"The expected impact on consumers is positive, especially in the Millennial and Z generations. The experience provided when purchasing and using insurance products is more comfortable and personalised, and claims management is likely to be processed more quickly and in a simpler way, through multi-channel digital platforms.
This phenomenon can present legal challenges, first and foremost in terms of data protection, since the use of these new technologies presupposes the analysis and processing of massive amounts of data for the use of which it is necessary to ensure that consent exists," states Cláudia Leonardo.
