Carlos Melo Alves is one of the members of the Human Rights Commission of the Portuguese Bar Association (CDHOA) for the 2025-2027 term.

On 4 December 2025, the President of the Portuguese Bar Association swore in the new members of the Portuguese Bar Association's Human Rights Commission in the Adelino da Palma Carlos Room at the General Council Headquarters, reinforcing the Bar's commitment to defending human dignity, fundamental freedoms and the rule of law.
